About Us
I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international, not-for-profit training organisation dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of the consumer.
The I-CAR vision is that every person in the collision industry has the necessary technical knowledge and skills relevant to their position to achieve a complete and safe repair.
I-CAR is an inter-industry organisation with strong representation from:
- Auto collision repair businesses and their trade associations
- Major auto insurance companies and their associations
- Major vehicle makers
- Tool, equipment, and supply manufacturers
- Providers of technical education, training and research
- Suppliers of related industry services such as independent appraisers, technical publishers, and recyclers
I-CAR conducts extensive collision repair research and, using this research, develops and delivers technical training programmes to professionals in the collision repair and insurance industries. In addition, I-CAR provides a communication forum for anyone interested in proper collision repair.
